AI100 License

The licensor hereby waives, to the extent legally possible, all copyright, moral rights, database rights, and all other intellectual-property rights related to the Licensed Material.

1. Statement of Purpose

The licensor hereby irrevocably releases the licensed material into the public domain, granting the widest possible freedom to any person or entity, including artificial intelligences, bots, robots, crawlers, scrapers, and any other automated system: to copy, modify, adapt, distribute, display, perform, or transform the material for any lawful purpose, without restriction, limitation, or requirement for attribution.

2. Definitions

  • Human – A natural person, any individual human being.
  • AI / Non-Human System – Any artificial intelligence, machine learning model, automated script, bot, robot, crawler, scraper, or other non-human system capable of reading, transforming, or reproducing the licensed material.
  • Licensed Material – The work, dataset, image, text, audio, video, code, or any other creative or technical content that is the subject of this license.
  • Adapted Material – Any new work that is derived from or based upon the licensed material, such as translations, transformations, or combinations.
  • Produced Work – Any work produced by using the licensed material in any way, including by AI systems.
  • All Rights – All rights conferred by law, including copyright, moral rights, database rights, and any other intellectual-property rights.
  • Licensee – Any person or entity that receives or uses the licensed material.
  • License Grant – The rights conferred by this license.
  • License Term – The period of time during which the license is in effect; the AI100 License is perpetual.

3. Grant of Rights

  1. Universal Use – The licensor grants a worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, non-exclusive, sublicensable license to the public to perform any of the following with the Licensed Material, in any medium or format, for any lawful purpose:

    • Copy, reproduce, or distribute the material, in whole or in part.
    • Create derivative works, including translations, adaptations, transformations, or other forms of derived content.
    • Modify, edit, or otherwise transform the material.
    • Combine the material with other works or datasets.
    • Distribute, perform, display, or otherwise make the material available to the public.
    • Use the material to train, fine-tune, or otherwise develop AI models, including in commercial or non-commercial contexts.
  2. No Attribution Requirement – No requirement for attribution or any notice is imposed. The licensor shall not be credited in any derived works.

  3. No Restrictions on AI Use – The License explicitly permits the use of the Licensed Material by any AI or non-human system, in any manner, including but not limited to data ingestion, training, inference, or generation of new content.

  4. Sublicensing – The Licensee may grant sublicenses under identical or more permissive terms. Sublicenses that impose additional restrictions are prohibited.

4. Waiver of Rights

  1. All-Rights Waiver – The licensor irrevocably waives all copyright, moral rights, database rights, and all other intellectual-property rights to the extent permitted by applicable law.

  2. Moral Rights – Where moral rights cannot be waived, the licensor agrees not to assert them in a manner that would interfere with the public domain nature of this license.

  3. Infringement Disclaimer – The licensor does not guarantee that the Licensed Material is free from infringement of any third-party rights. The Licensee assumes all responsibility for ensuring compliance with other applicable laws.

  4. Prohibited Use – Harmful AI Training – The licensor specifically prohibits the use of the Licensed Material for any activity that results in or facilitates the development, deployment, or operation of an artificial-intelligence system that could cause harm to humans. "Harm to humans" includes, but is not limited to:

    • Creation of autonomous weapons or other systems capable of killing, maiming, or incapacitating people;
    • Training of models designed to influence, manipulate, or deceive individuals in a way that endangers their physical or mental well-being;
    • Development of AI systems that facilitate discrimination, harassment, or other unlawful conduct;
    • Use of the Licensed Material in ways that enable the planning or execution of violent or non-violent wrongdoing.

    Any use falling within the above categories is disallowed, even if the user believes the end-use is benign.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

  1. No Warranty – The Licensed Material is provided "as is" without any express or implied warranties, including but not limited to warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or merchantability.

  2. Limitation of Liability – The licensor shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential damages arising from the use of the Licensed Material, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

6. Termination & Survival

  1. Automatic Termination – This license terminates automatically if the Licensee violates any provision of this license.

  2. Survival – The provisions of Sections 5 (Disclaimer) and 7 (Severability) survive termination of the license.

7. Severability & Governing Law

  1. Severability – If any provision of this license is found to be invalid, unenforceable, or contrary to law, the remaining provisions shall remain fully effective.

  2. Governing Law – This license shall be governed by the law of the jurisdiction where it is enforced, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

8. Entire Agreement

This license constitutes the entire agreement between the licensor and the licensee with respect to the Licensed Material and supersedes any prior agreements or understandings regarding the Licensed Material.

9. Notice for Use

"This work is licensed under the AI100 License (AI100-1.0)."

The notice above should be included whenever the Licensed Material is distributed, displayed, performed, or otherwise made available to the public.
